William M. Thorpe Sr. Obituary

Peabody - William M. Thorpe Sr. 76, beloved husband of Margaret (Patterson) Thorpe, died unexpectedly on Sunday, January 11, 2026 at home.

Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Morgan and Jesse (Lee) Thorpe. He was raised and educated in Peabody and was a graduate of Peabody High School.

Mr. Thorpe co-owned and operated Essex County Carpentry along with his friend, Walter Diachisin for many years until the time of his retirement.

A lifelong resident of Peabody, Bill was a longtime and active member of the Gannon Municipal Golf Club in Lynn where he achieved a "Hole in One". He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his wife with whom he shared fifty-six years of marriage, he is survived by his two sons, William M. Thorpe Jr. and his partner, Christien Orlando of Amesbury and Justin Thorpe and his wife, Erin of Peabody, five grandchildren, Victoria, Olivia, Justin, Emma and John and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Robert Thorpe, George Thorpe, Nancy Willis and Barbara Bergstrom.

Visiting hours will be held at the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, Saturday, January 17, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Funeral services following the visitation will be private.
