Sarasota - William J. McGettrick Jr, 83, of Sarasota, FL, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2026.

A beloved husband to Karen Ann, (McCrea), father, brother, and friend. Bill will be remembered for his quick wit, kind heart, and unwavering generosity toward others.

Born on January 22, 1943, in Swampscott, Massachusetts to William John and Grace Barbara (Callahan) McGettrick. Bill graduated from Swampscott High School in 1961, where he proudly played on the football team, before continuing his education at Northeastern University in Boston.

Following in his father's footsteps, Bill began his career in the insurance business before becoming a respected personal property adjuster. Known for his professionalism and integrity, he helped countless individuals through his work. After a long and successful career, Bill retired in 2009 and settled in Sarasota, FL, where he enjoyed many years of friendship and fellowship on the golf course as a member of the Tatum Ridge Golf Men's Association.

Bill is survived by his wife Karen, son Michael McGettrick and wife, Kristen (Kanavos), his brother Paul McGettrick, grandchildren, Aiden and Emmett McGettrick. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Gerald.
