Beverly - Beverly - Wayne Hanson was born in Lynn, MA in 1937 to Collin and Vera Hanson. After graduating from Lynn English in 1955, he began an apprenticeship with the Lynn Item, where he would work for the next 40 years. He tended bar at the Porthole Pub for decades, retired from the Salem Evening News, and then spent 17 years working for FEMA. He was survived by his wife Judy and sons Scott, Jeff, Buck, and Mark and was predeceased by his son Gary, brother Collie, and cousin Kenny. He was a member of The National Guard, The Northshoremen Barbershop Chorus, The Village Voices, The Salem Willows Yacht Club Band and The North Shore Old Car Club. He co-founded the Nahant Fish and Game Club and is widely hailed as its most effective and prolific president over multiple terms. He loved music, skiing, hiking, fishing and sailing Beverly Harbor with his dog Maggie curled up in the bow. Wayne leaves behind ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren and countless other family, friends, and neighbors that sure will miss him.
