Manchester-by-the-Sea, MA - Walter B. Gannett, 90, of Manchester-by-the-Sea, husband of the late Elizabeth (Young) Gannett passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday evening, June 20, 2018 at the Beverly Hospital.

He was born in Scituate, on May 30, 1928, son of the late Paul and Jessie (Walker) Gannett.

Walter was a carpenter by trade and enjoyed working around the house on various projects. He most recently celebrated his 90th birthday with family and many friends whom he loved. He enjoyed doing his daily crossword puzzles with his cat Missy by his side. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and taking his Sunday rides to get breakfast and then shopping and traveling around the backshore of Cape Ann and Hampton Beach. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his three daughters, Deborah Morrison and her husband John of Ipswich, Diana Bishop and her husband Jay of Manchester-by-the-Sea, Donna Willis and her husband, Karl of Ohio; two sons, Dennis Gannett, Daniel Gannett and his wife, Lydia all of Manchester-by-the-Sea; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; his sister, Marjorie Wickers of New Hampshire and daughter-in-law, Kathy Boudreau and her husband Mark of Gloucester.

He was predeceased by his two sons, Dean and David Gannett.

His Memorial Service will be held in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester on Sunday, July 8, 2018 at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. A visitation will be held prior to the service on Sunday from 9 to 11 a.m.
