Beverly - Thomas J. Houton, 76, of Beverly, passed away Monday, March 1, 2021 at the Kaplan Hospice House in Danvers surrounded by his loved ones after a lengthy illness. He was the loving husband of Donna (Nardella) Houton.

Tom was the son of the late Daniel and Mary (Toland) Houton of Donegal, Ireland. After an education at Boston College High School, St. Bonaventure University and the Emory School, Tom enjoyed 45 years working as a Court Reporter. Together with his wife Donna, they ran Houton Court Reporting. Later, his love of antiquities led him to import goods from Ireland and opened T. Jordan Houton and Company in Salem along with several other shops. He also established the Canal Street Flea Market and was an auctioneer. His travels took him and his wife around the globe, and he started a travel agency Cruise by Tom. Over the years, Tom had a passion for gardening, planting over 100 shrubs and trees at his home.

Tom would like to share the pride he had for his daughters and their careers, Janel opening an antique shop in Kyoto, Japan, and Kendra working close to 20 years at the law firm Fenwick & West LLP, Seattle, WA.

In addition to his wife Donna with whom they shared 53 years of marriage he is survived by two daughters, Janel Houton and her husband James Sullivan of Beverly, Kendra Houton Schmidt and her husband Joshua Schmidt of Whidbey Island, Wash.; two grandchildren, Karla Houton and Augustus Schmidt; a brother John Houton and his wife Dr. Ellen Kanter of Buzzards Bay; two sisters, Catherine and her husband Dr. Joseph Benedict of Mystic, CT, Roseleen Pyne of Milford and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great-nephews. He was brother of the late Anna McGann and her late husband Val, Daniel Houton, Patricia Houton, Charles Houton; brother in law of the late George Pyne.
