Salem - Mrs. Theresa (Robichaud) Bates, 83, of Salem, died Thursday, November 7, 2019, at Salem hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Milford, she was the daughter of the late Valerie and Delia (Cormier) Robichaud. She was raised and educated in Fitchburg and was a graduate of Fitchburg High School.
Mrs. Bates began her professional career with GTE Sylvania at it's Boston Street Plant in Salem and matriculated to E.G & G. where she worked for many years until the time of her retirement.
A loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Theresa was devoted to her family. Her greatest enjoyment in life was being in the company and surrounded by the people she loved. Always full of vigor, Theresa loved to dance, play bingo and especially enjoyed playing cards with her friends and family. She loved and was loved immensely. She will be deeply missed.
Theresa is survived by her daughters, Marie Martin and her husband Dana of Danvers, and Carol Fontaine and her fiance Frank of Salem; her grandchildren, Melissa and her husband Christopher Baker, Christopher Martin, Kayla Martin and Chad Fontaine; her sisters, Rita and her husband Tom LePage of Fla., Dora Cyr of Salem, Marie and her husband Raymond Beausoleil of Fla.; her brother, Joseph Robichaud of Beverly; and several nieces and nephews.
Theresa's visiting hours will be in The O'Donnell Funeral Home, 46 Washington Sq. (at Salem Common), Salem, Tuesday, Nov. 12, from 4 to 8 p.m. The funeral Mass will be held in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Margin St., Peabody/Salem line, Wednesday, Nov. 13 at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend by arriving directly at the church.
