Ipswich - Ipswich - Sister Mary Louise Blanchard, SNDdeN, 92, went peacefully home to her good God on May 6, 2025, at St. Julie Billiart Residential Care Center in Ipswich. She was born in Salem, MA to parents, Samuel and Mary (Loftus) Blanchard. Mary entered the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur on August 2, 1953, making her First Vows in 1956 and Perpetual Vows in 1961.

Sr. Mary graduated from Emmanuel College in 1965 with a degree in History and Education. She earned her MA from Salem State University in 1974 in Elementary Education. Sr. Mary was a very gifted, faithful educator. She taught elementary school, middle school, and junior high and served as vice-principal in many Notre Dame Schools throughout Massachusetts and New Hampshire. After retiring from teaching, she continued to volunteer at nursing homes and hospitals. She retired to Ipswich in 2007.

Her brother, Robert Blanchard of Peabody and her sister, Dorothy Moreland of Beverly, predeceased Sr. Mary. She is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as the Sisters and Associates in the Notre Dame community and the devoted staff of the Saint Julie Billiart Residential Care Center. She will be greatly missed for her quiet sense of humor, simplicity and generosity.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady Queen Chapel, 30 Jeffreys Neck Road, Ipswich, MA, on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, preceded by a wake at 10:00 in the chapel. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Ipswich.
