Shirley "Shan" Pickul Obituary

Jacksonville, FL/Sarasota - Jacksonville, FL/Sarasota, FL/Ipswich - Shirley, "Shan", Pickul, a cherished wife, mother and grandmother, left us on October 15, 2024 at the age of 86. She was known for her contagious sense of humor, unconditional and devoted love and sense of appreciation for the simple things. She will be remembered and celebrated by everyone who knew her. Shirley was born in Newburyport, MA to Shirley and Russell Hull and was raised by Melvin and Corinne Sheppard of Ipswich, MA. She was a graduate of Essex Agricultural and Technical School, formerly Essex Agricultural School, and provided private childcare for many years to dozens of children who adored her.


After residing in Ipswich, MA for 41 years, Shirley and her husband, Ted Pickul, moved to Sarasota, FL where they happily resided for 38 years as Executive Direct Jobbers for Amsoil synthetic lubricants. Her last 7 years were enjoyed living in Jacksonville, FL close to family.


She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Ted Pickul, her daughter, Kerry Eshleman, her sons Kevin McClafferty and James Pickul, her grandchildren Jessica and Justin Pickul, Meagan Lasoff, Kelsey Eshleman and Jeffrey and Nicholas McClafferty. Shirley is also survived by her brothers Robert Clifford Hull of Troy, N.H. and James Russell Hull of Ipswich, MA. She is the great-grandmother to 11 children and has many nieces and nephews. Her heart knew no boundaries when it came to expressing and demonstrating love, especially for her family and friends. Her daily concern was always for their happiness and well-being.


Shan is predeceased by her sisters Cheryl Lee Landers and Donna Rae Hussey and her brother Ronald Charles, "Joe", Pickard.

Visiting hours will be Friday May 30, 2025 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. in the Morris Funeral Home 45 North Main Street, Ipswich. A graveside service will be held Saturday May 31, 2025 at 9:00 A.M in the New Highland Cemetery 29 Town Farm Road, Ipswich, relatives and friend are respectfully invited.
