Peabody - Ruth Seiden Cooper was the beloved wife of Herbert Cooper for over 65 years, sister of Philip, Marshall, and Ronald Seiden, mother of Scott Cooper and Suzanne Cooper, mother-in-law of Stuart Jacobson, grandmother of Benjamin and Noah Jacobson.
She grew up in Far Rockaway, New York, graduated Smith College, and pursued graduate studies at Ohio State University, before returning to New York, where she taught English in the public schools, and married Dr. Herbert L. Cooper, whom she had known since childhood. She moved with him to the North Shore of Boston, living in Marblehead, raising a family, and teaching at Salem High School. In retirement, she tutored at the Salem Witchcraft Heights Elementary School. She was a dedicated and creative teacher who made a lasting impression on generations of Salem students.
A graveside service was held at 12:00 noon on Monday, November 11th at Temple Sinai Cemetery, Buxton Rd., Danvers, MA. Shiva will be held at the home of Suzanne Cooper and Stuart Jacobson on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings from 7-9 pm.
