Ipswich - Ronald Emmett Carroll, the devoted 48-year husband of Ellin (Logan) Carroll, passed away peacefully at his Ipswich home on March 4, 2023, at the age of 77.

Ron was born in Waterbury, CT on April 5, 1945 son of the late Emmett and Blanche (Krystofolski) Carroll. Following high school graduation her went on to proudly serve his country from 1962 to 1966 as a Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps, Second Battalion, Platoon 223. Honorably discharged Ron then worked as a corrections officer in the Connecticut jail system and as a machinist at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft before his move to Massachusetts. Ron retired from General Electric in Lynn as a VTL operator and foreman in the Air-Craft Engine Division. Ron enjoyed his free time running and cycling, having been a trophy winner many years ago in the Ipswich Triathlon.

He loved Great Moose Lake in Maine and his vacations in Hawaii with friends. During his retirement years, he developed a loyal client base as a painter and handyman on the Northshore. During these years he also took the opportunity to pursue his passion for fishing. Ron was very happy puttering at home, having coffee at the beach, and leaf peeping fall weekends in his beautiful New England. Ron will be remembered by friends and family for his fierce loyalty, generosity, and gentlemanly nature. He was always present for his children and instilled values that continue to serve them well. His sense of humor was infectious. His grandchildren have countless memories of their "funny Grampy." Ronnie set strong roots in the Logan family and was dedicated to caring for his late mother and father-in-law, Joan and John Logan, and his kindness was always evident in his love and support of brother-in-law, Thomas Logan who will miss him.

In addition to his wife, Ellin, Ron is survived by his loving son, Ryan J. Carroll and his wife, Heather and their son, Tyler and daughter, Avery of Portsmouth, NH, ; daughter, Shannon E. Carroll and her husband, Matthew Johnston and their daughter Lilah of Amesbury; a sister, Barbara Gray of Danvers and Ron's daughter-in-law, Suellen Carroll, wife of Ron's late son, Christopher Carroll formerly of Vero Beach, FL. and their daughter, Tara.

He is also survived by his extensive family including, John, Bill, Tom, Justin, Andrew, Mary, Elizabeth, and Suzanne Logan and their spouses and children as well as nieces and nephews in Missouri, Minnesota, Connecticut, Ohio, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire. He was the brother of the late Janet Sylvestro and Leonard Carroll.

Semper Fi in the military and his home life, Ron will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

His funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, March 10, in the Whittier-Porter Funeral Home, 6 High St., Ipswich followed by interment with Military Honors in the Cowles Memorial Cemetery, Ipswich. Family and friends are cordially welcomed. Visiting hours will be offered Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m.
