BEVERLY - Ronald A. Agrella,76, a lifelong resident of Wenham and Hamilton, died peacefully at Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers surrounded by his loved ones. He was the son of the late Alexander A. and Florence M. (Tamilio) Agrella of Wenham.
Ronald had a great sense of humor and was a loving and devoted father and grandfather. He was a very sharp, clever and mechanically minded individual, and is best known for his quick wit, sage advice and generosity. In addition to his love of travel, he was a die-hard gear head with a passion for muscle cars, motorcycles, skimobiles, aircraft and boats. He was a voracious reader of newspapers and could provide thoughtful advice and insight on everything from cars to politics to the stock market.
He joined the General Electric workforce in Lynn at 19 where he helped build and test everything from military aviation to submarine engines. He spent his career at GE and often spoke about the strong and lasting friendships he developed and maintained there.
But it was his love of friends and family that distinguished him, never missing an opportunity to join a family event, or devote his time to his children and grandchildren. He'd take his grandkids fishing, boating, on jet skis, motorcycle rides and many other adventures, building warm memories that lasted a lifetime. He forever touched the lives of his family and friends, and words can't express how deeply they will miss him.
Ronald is survived by his son, Ronald J. Agrella and his wife Tina of Rowley; daughter, Kimberly A. van Twuyver and her husband Peter of Georgetown; brother, Alan F. Agrella and his wife Paula of Brentwood, NH; two sisters, Linda L. Penniman and her husband Newell of Hamilton and Beverly A. Iwanicki and her husband Michael of Ipswich; four grandchildren, Sophia R. Agrella, Nicholas J. Agrella, John E. van Twuyver and Aiden M. van Twuyver, and many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends.
