Peabody - Roland Montminy, beloved husband, father, father-in-law, brother, uncle, and longtime member of the North Shore community, passed away on February 11, 2026, following a brief illness. He was 95 years old. Born in 1930 in St. Anselme, Quebec, Canada to Laurent and Delia (Aubin), he was one of fifteen children. Roland emigrated to Salem, Massachusetts as a young man, where he built a life he cherished. He joined the Duchess Footwear Company, working his way up to foreman, before beginning a career of more than 30 years at the Kernwood Country Club in Salem, serving as head of maintenance among many other roles. He spoke fondly of those years — the work, the staff, and the many club members he came to know over time. Roland eventually settled in Peabody with his wife and young family, where he would remain for the rest of his life. Monday was his day off, and he made it count — regularly taking his family to Hampton Beach, a simple tradition his children would always remember. Summer vacations often meant a trip to Canada, where the family enjoyed time together with cousins and extended family. Following the passing of his beloved wife in June 2024, he continued to live independently — driving nearly until the end and enjoying his walks at the mall, always taking note of the new buildings going up around him. He was preceded in death by wife of 64 years, Claire, and is survived by his four children and their spouses, a brother, and many nieces and nephews on both sides of the border. The family extends special thanks to the staff at Salem Hospital for the exceptional care shown to Roland in his final days. He will be greatly missed.
