Beverly - Robert C. Petersen of Beverly Farms passed away peacefully on Monday, May 18. Born July 30, 1943, in Winthrop, MA, he was the son of the late Robert and Marion (Crockett) Petersen.

Bob leaves behind his beloved wife and best friend, Elaine Kelly Petersen, with whom he shared over 60 years of marriage; his children, Christine Petersen, Timothy Petersen (Jessica), and Stephen Petersen (Helon Alden); his grandchildren, who knew him as Pa — Samuel Petersen, Charlotte Wells, Sebastian Petersen, Elizabeth Petersen, and Grace Zuckerman; his great-granddaughter, Addison Jane Petersen; and his sister-in-law, brothers-in-law, niece, nephew, cousins, and dear friends. He was predeceased by his son-in-law Robert C. Wells and his nephew Leonard Kelly.

Bob graduated from Danvers High School, earned a degree in Chemical Engineering from Tufts University, and a Master's Degree in Engineering Management from Northeastern University.

He had a long and rewarding career in chemical engineering and environmental services. Starting as a chemical engineer at Hamilton Standard and progressing through various roles, Bob served as President of SCA, CEO of ENSR, and finished his career as COO of TRC. After his retirement in 2013, Bob served on the Board of Directors of Morrison Herschfield for many years.

Bob had many passions and pastimes. Having played basketball for his high school and college teams, he was an avid Celtics fan and season ticket holder. A longtime member of Manchester Yacht Club and the Golf Club at Turner Hill, he loved being out on the water, on the golf course, and traveling with family and friends.

Above all else, his greatest passion and love was his family.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Congregational Church of Topsfield, 80 Main Street, Topsfield, on July 30th at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob's memory can be made to Spaulding Rehabilitation at giving.spauldingrehab.org.
