Richard "Dick" LeBreux Obituary
Exeter - Richard "Dick" LeBreux, 92, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on November 21, 2025, in Brunswick, Maine. Dick's kindness, quiet strength, compassion, and generosity touched everyone who knew him. Family, friends, and community were at the foundation of his life. Steady and caring, he was always there to step in when someone needed help no matter how big or small the need.
He was a constant and dependable source of warmth, guidance, and support and believed that the most meaningful way to make a difference was through simple, everyday kindness.
Born on November 8, 1933, in Peabody, MA, Dick was the son of the late Ernest Alexander and Dorothy (Curley) LeBreux. He is predeceased by his sisters, Loraine "Tootsie" Dumas and Beverly LeBreux. He graduated from Peabody High School in 1952 and went on to serve in the United States Navy from 1953 to 1955 aboard the USS Nespelen, traveling to the Mediterranean, Greenland, and Bermuda.
In 1958, Dick married the late Sandra (Quintiliani) LeBreux. Together they raised four daughters who were the pride of his life: Susan Pomerantz (husband Steve and grandchildren, David and Melissa) of Medford, New Jersey; Donna LeBreux-Sambrook (husband Mike) of Harpswell, ME, Barbara Smith (late husband Randy) of Exeter, NH, and Linda LeBreux of Brunswick, ME.
After returning home from the Navy, Dick worked on the family ranch - first in West Peabody, Massachusetts, and later in Brentwood, NH. He later embarked on a long career in law enforcement in New Hampshire, serving with the Rockingham County Sheriff's Department, Brentwood Police Department, Brentwood Fire Department New Hampshire Parks and Recreation Department, the Grafton County Sheriff's Department, and the Haverhill Police Department. He retired in 1984.
Dick lived in Brentwood from 1955 to 1998, where he and Sandra raised their family on an extended property surrounded by relatives whose closeness shaped his family's lifelong sense of connection and caring. In 1998, they moved to Bayside Estates in Fort Myers Beach, Florida. In 2018, Dick moved to Brunswick, Maine, to be nearer to family.
Throughout his life, Dick was deeply devoted to community and friendship. He took part in the local Men's Club, followed his favorite sports, and had an interest in aviation and automobiles. He built his family home himself – a reflection of his skill and devotion. Although he traveled a bit, his heart was always rooted at home.
Dick will be remembered for his steady presence, his quiet humor, and his kindness.
Visiting hours will be held at Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter, NH, on Tuesday, November 25th from 4 to 6 p.m. A graveside service will follow at the Town of Brentwood Cemetery on Wednesday, November 26th at 10 am.
