Salem - Ralph Leo Countie died peacefully on December 2, 2019. Born on October 19, 1936, he was the fourth child of Francis I. and Marion P. Countie of Peabody and baby brother to Francis I. Jr., William G. and Fr. Charles Countie. Beloved husband to the love of his life Jeannette Marie (Smith) Countie who predeceased him just four months ago. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews as well as friends and neighbors who will miss him dearly.
He led a rich life full of love, music and adventure. A St. John's Prep graduate, he could be seen driving to and from campus in his sporty convertible with upright base as his passenger...until he met Jeannette at the Carmel Club. After a stint in the US Navy the two settled into their historic home on Washington Square. He loved antiquing, ballroom dancing, cribbage, live jazz and meetings with the Three Amigos at Deb's Diner. He was a proud baritone in the SPEBSQSA's Northshormen of Beverly.
He spent his professional career in the family food distribution business and achieved great satisfaction by serving as a Eucharistic Minister, Counselor, and Choir Member of Immaculate Conception Church.
A life well lived, we will celebrate with friends and family in the Spring. For more information or online guestbook, please visit www.MurphyFuneralHome.com or call 978-744-0497.
