R. Frances Regan Obituary

Beverly - Ruth Frances "Fran" Regan, 90, of Beverly, died peacefully on Monday, March 17th, surrounded by her family, after a short illness.

Born in Beverly, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Helen (Laitinen) Maggiacomo and beloved wife of the late Richard J. Regan with whom they shared 55 years of marriage.

She was a graduate of Beverly High School, Class of 1953, and Beverly Hospital School of Nursing class of 1956. As a Registered Nurse she worked in the Labor and Delivery Department at Beverly Hospital, welcoming many babies into the world. She retired in 1959 to raise five children, and care for many elderly relatives and friends. After her children were raised, she was the weekend manager at the Girdler House in Beverly for many years, caring for the ladies in the home.

Fran was always happy to help others and was a valued advocate for many. She led an active healthy life, swimming, playing tennis, skiing with her family and friends until she was in her seventies, and traveling the world with her sister Polly. She was a voracious reader and enjoyed her book club.

Over the years she learned to cane chairs, make intricate lampshades, and completed many ceramic projects including the classic Christmas trees and a beautiful nativity set, all cherished by her family.

She also enjoyed being at home with her kitties and grand dogs.

Fran is survived by her children, Kathleen (Richard) Malewicki of Beverly, Kevin (Jo-An) Regan of Fulton, NY, Karen Picariello- (Jack) Hughes of Hebron, NH, Kenneth (Laurie) of Beverly, Keith of Danvers, and her sister, Pauline MacDonald of Danvers, 7 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is predeceased by her siblings, Louise Gosbee-Young, Antonio Maggiacomo, Helen Beaulieu-Dungee, Joseph Maggiacomo, her grandson, Cameron Regan, nephew Joseph Beaulieu, nieces Roslyn Gosbee-Criswell-Smith, and Kellie Criswell.

Her funeral service will be held at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, on Wednesday, March 26th at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, March 25th from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial will be at North Beverly Cemetery. Contributions may be made in Fran's memory to Care Dimensions 75 Sylvan St, Danvers, MA.
