Phyllis Anne Whalen, 79, of Epping, N.H., died on May 24, 2016 at her home. She was born in Salem, Mass. on November 27, 1936, daughter of the late Arthur G. and Alma (Lavoie) Levesque.
A former longtime resident of Danvers, Phyllis grew up in Salem, attended the local schools and was a graduate of St. Joseph Academy. She worked most of her life in nursing all around the north shore and eventually retired as an LPN and from Radius Healthcare in Danvers. Phyllis loved to read and knit but she most of all loved spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed following politics and staying up on current events.
She was predeceased by her husband, James E. Whalen and is survived by three daughters, Judith Hinkle and her husband, Larry of Haverhill, Jeane Horne and her husband, Phillip of Deerfield, N.H., Patricia Cherin and her wife, Cynthia of San Francisco; five grandchildren, Kristen and Amanda Hinkle, Elizabeth and George Horne, and Jack James Cherin; three sisters, Estelle Gagnon of Danvers, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph (Jacqueline) Pallazola of Amesbury, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence (Anita) Andrade of Tewksbury, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be announced in Danvers, at a later date. Brewitt Funeral Home, 9 Pleasant St., Epping, N.H. is assisting the family with the arrangements.
