Ipswich - Philip J. Bernard Jr., 86, died Sunday morning, December 1, 2019, in the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers after a short illness. Born in Ipswich on May 10, 1933, he was the son of the late Philip J. Sr., and Evelyn P (Dort) Bernard.
Mr. Bernard was raised and educated in Ipswich. He entered the Army and served in Korea from 1953 until his honorable discharge in 1955. He was employed at the former Creese & Cook Tannery in Danvers for over 20 years. Later Mr. Bernard was employed at the Hamilton/Wenham Regional High School for 13 years. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post #1093 here in Ipswich.
Mr. Bernard is survived by his two brothers: Ronald G. Bernard of Florida and Elmer G. Bernard of Ipswich; his four sisters: Eleanor M. Bernard of Beverly, Linda R. Corliss of Florida, Barbara Hemenway, also of Florida, and Mary A. Good of Ipswich; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his brother William D. Bernard, formerly of Florida.

A private graveside will be held later with military honors. Burial will be in the Cowles Memorial Cemetery, 29 Town Farm Road, Ipswich. There will be no visiting hours.
