Raymond - Peter Lawrence "Petey" Genest Jr., known for his warmth and infectious spirit, passed away on March 20, 2024, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of love and dedication. Born on April 7, 1970, in Beverly, MA, he was the beloved son of Eleanor (Gallo) Genest and Peter Lawrence Genest.

Growing up in Beverly, MA, Petey, as he was affectionately known, shared countless adventures with his brother Shane. He attended Bishop Fenwick High School in Peabody, MA, graduating in 1988, and continued his education at St. Anselm College from 1988 to 1992.

Petey's love for hockey was unmatched, earning him the nickname "Petey the Goalie." He was honored as the Most Valuable Player of his high school hockey team, a testament to his dedication and skill on the ice. His passion for the sport took him on memorable journeys, including trips to Europe, where he played hockey in countries like Slovakia, Hungary, and Austria. He cherished these moments, especially when shared with his daughter Hannah.

Throughout his life, Petey served as a reliable goalie for numerous teams, including the Southern NH Hockey Scoundrels. His commitment to his teammates was unwavering, always stepping up when his skills were needed most.

An avid collector of Legos, Petey enjoyed building memories with Hannah and later cherished his collection as a symbol of their bond. He also had a passion for hunting, sharing unforgettable expeditions to South Africa with his father and best friend, Tate. Petey's love for the Boston Bruins was palpable, and he fulfilled a dream by playing on the ice at the TD Garden.

Professionally, Petey was known for his hard work and dedication. He held roles at Snyder Security in Danvers, served as a Shift Commander at the Seabrook Power Plant, and worked as a broker for United Healthcare.

Above all, Petey treasured time spent with his family. He leaves behind cherished memories for his mother, Eleanor (Gallo) Genest; his beloved father, Peter Lawrence Genest; his daughter, Hannah Genest; his brother, Shane Genest, and sister-in-law, Emily; as well as his aunt and uncle, Linda and James O'Brien, aunt and uncle, Marcie and Ed Gingle, aunt and uncle, Jean and Mike Robertson, uncle, Ed Genest and numerous cousins.

A celebration of Petey's life will be held on April 19, 2024, from 1-4pm at the Newburyport, MA Elks Club, located at 25 Low St, Newburyport, MA 01950. Friends and family are invited to share stories and memories at 2:30 pm.

Contributions may be made in Petey's honor to the charity of one's choice.
