Paul R. Girard, 76, a former longtime resident of Merrimack, died October 9, 2017 at Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester.
Born, raised and educated in Salem, son of the late Joseph and Alice M. (Collins) Girard, he graduated from Salem High School with the Class of 1958 and was a member of the Veragua Council # 76 of The Knights of Columbus.
Mr. Girard was employed as a security guard and inspector for ADT Security Co. for over 37 years.
An avid Boston Celtics and New England Patriots fan, he also enjoyed stamp collecting and coin collecting, watching old movies, and his younger years, traveling to England, Scotland, Death Valley and Las Vegas.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his sister-in-law, Sandra Eddows Gagliarde of Nahant, Mass.; two godchildren, Sandra L. Duffty and her husband, Andrew of Newton, N.H., Shannon L. Emerson of Newton and special friends, the Cameron family, with whom he spent a lot of time, his nephews and their wives, Brian and Karen Eddows of Nahant, Mark and Darlene Eddows of Lebanon, Maine, and Michael and Maria Eddows of Nahant, nieces and their husbands, Karen (Eddows) and Michael Parr of Hamilton, and Christine (Eddows) and Kevin Drew of Rowley, a niece, Nancy Eddows of Auburn, N.H., and three lifelong friends, John Connelly, Bob Marchand and Billy Giannocopoulos. He was predeceased by brothers, Richard Girard, Joseph Girard, nephew, Wayne Eddows and niece Donna Eddows.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday evening, October 13, 2017, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, N.H. His Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Mary Mother of the Church of Saint Luke the Evangelist Parish, 12 Amesbury Road Newton, NH. Burial will follow in Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Sylvan St, Danvers.
