Chester, NH - Paul Allen LeVasseur, known as Al, age 79, passed away on August 13, 2019 at the High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill after a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of Barbara (Carroll) LeVasseur, with whom he shared 38 wonderful years of marriage.
Born in Salem on April 5, 1940, he was the son of the late Paul and Lillie (Bernson) LeVasseur. He had resided in Prides Crossing for many years before moving to Chester, NH.
Paul was a volunteer at the Peabody Essex Museum as a photographer for their acquisitions many years ago. He was a member of the MENSA Society, enjoyed reading, and was an avid sailor and motorcyclist. Paul assisted friends in need and did whatever he could to make their daily living easier.
Paul's family meant the world to him, which is what kept him motivated in his years of declining health. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two children, who meant everything to him, he adored and was so proud of: Nicole LeVasseur and her husband David Swiatek of Chester, NH and Benjamin LeVasseur of Bow, NH. He was the brother of Sharon Clarke of Salem, NH and Karen Davis and her husband, John of Danvers; brother of the late George Casey and his wife Louise of Beverly and brother of the late Gordon LeVasseur and his wife Lori of Naples, Fla; He also leaves his sister in law Jeanne (Carroll) Upton and her partner, Marc Guilmette of Middleton; brothers in law Robert Carroll of Beverly Farms and John Carroll of Beverly and his partner Laurie Jean Damon. He is survived by many cherished nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He is also survived by three beautiful grandchildren, Olivia LeVasseur-Swiatek, Nathan LeVasseur-Swiatek, and Sophia LeVasseur-Swiatek of Chester, NH, who were the lights of his life.
Paul's wishes were to not have any services. Instead he requested donations be made to the following in his memory:
Northeast Animal Shelter, 347 Highland Avenue, Salem, MA 01970.

The love you shared and the light in your soul was a blessing to us all. May we meet again. I love you and wish we had more time in life together but grateful to be with you in the end as I hadn’t seen you in way too long. Love and peace to all our family and may we continue the gift of your memory and find comfort in the those memories. Love you ❤️🙏
