Pasquale J. Tretola Obituary

Swampscott - Pasquale (Pat) James Tretola, 93, passed away unexpectedly on January 1, 2026. He was the beloved husband of the late Norma M. Tretola, with whom he shared 69 years of marriage.

Born in Swampscott on September 3, 1932, Pat was the son of the late Pompey and Philomena (Faino) Tretola. A lifelong resident, he lived on the very street where he was born and remained deeply rooted in the community he loved. He was a devoted communicant of Holy Family Church, Lynn, MA where his faith and community were an important part of his life. He graduated from Swampscott High School with the Class of 1950.

Pat was an exceptional baseball player, serving as third baseman on the 1949 SHS State Championship Baseball Team played at Fenway Park, which later earned induction into the Swampscott High School Athletic Hall of Fame. Although he received a baseball scholarship, he remained close to home to help support his widowed mother. His love of the game continued throughout his life, and he coached Swampscott Little League for many years, including managing Swampscott's 1967 Little League All-Star team.

Pat dedicated 43 years to Durkee Mower (Marshmallow Fluff) in Lynn, MA, where he oversaw factory operations until his retirement in 1994. He was also well-known across the North Shore as the local TV repairman, often making evening house calls to ensure families could enjoy their favorite programs —sometimes with nothing more than a well-timed reset button!!

In his downtime, Pat enjoyed placing bets at Suffolk Downs and Saratoga Springs, NY during the summer. He loved traveling to Las Vegas with the Dandreo family and attending their annual Fourth of July parties. He also took pleasure in his daily walks—always taking the long way to the post office—and relaxing on the front porch with neighbors and a cigar.

Pat is survived by his children: Donna M. Dion of Farmington, NH; Richard J. Tretola of Lynn; Patti A. Gast and her husband Cliff of Danvers; Kimberlee J. Bouchard and her husband Michael of Plymouth, NH; Stefanie Calise and her husband Chris of Harrison, ME; Stacey A. Haynes of Lynn and Daughter-in-Law Christine Tretola of Saugus, MA. He also leaves behind his grandchildren—Robyn, Andrea, Kerry, Julia, Louis, Daniel, Maya, and AJ—his great-grandchildren, Serena, Ethan, and Lila; and his step-grandchildren Christopher, Emily, Isabelle, Nick and Cameron.

He was predeceased by his wife, Norma M. Tretola; his son, Michael D. Tretola; and his siblings, Salvatore Tretola, Michael Tretola, and Mary Tretola Ferraro.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Larry Mangini and Bill Dandreo of Swampscott for their enduring friendship and support. They also wish to express their gratitude to his caring health aide, Bryhanna of Visiting Angels.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Solimine Funeral Home, 67 Ocean Street (Rt. 1A) Lynn. A funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Church, 21 Bessom St, Lynn. Burial will follow at Swampscott Cemetery.
