Michael E. Brien Obituary

Beverly - Michael E. Brien, 75, passed away on February 9, 2026, in the Kaplan Family Hospice House. He was the husband of Susan (Harris) Brien, with whom he shared nearly 40 years of marriage.

Born in Malden on June 5, 1950, he was the son of the late Alfred and Jean (Coughlin) Brien. Michael had a successful career as a salesman with Pepperidge Farm. He also worked at the former Middleton Golf Course for over 20 years and upon retirement from Pepperidge Farm, he worked at the Thomson Golf Club in North Reading.

Michael was an avid golfer; his thirst for adventure led him to enjoy water skiing, scuba diving and flying hot air balloons. Sunday afternoons in the fall you would find him in his easy chair, a glass of his homemade wine nearby as he cheered on the New England Patriots. A kind, generous, thoughtful neighbor, he frequently mowed their lawns and cleared snow from their driveways, expecting nothing in return. His own lawn was lush, meticulously maintained, his pride and joy and envied by many.

He especially enjoyed trips to Disney World and Disney cruises with his family.

In addition to his wife Susan, he is survived by his children Joshua Brien of Boscawen, NH, Amanda Brien of Nashua NH and Heather Brien and her husband Ali of Orlando, FL, his three grandchildren, Caden, Dylan and Camdon and his sisters, Sandy Brien of NH, Nancy Szwyd of NH and Christine Golden of FL. He was predeceased by his daughter Melissa Brien.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 16, 2025 from 10-10:45AM followed by his funeral service at 11AM at C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Wadsworth Cemetery, Summer St., Danvers. In lieu of flowers donations in Michael's name may be made to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA 01923.
