Gloucester - Melinda L. Adam, of Gloucester, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2022, at the age of sixty-two with her loving wife and dog "Zoe" at her side.

She was predeceased by her parents Louis and Donna Adam, and her brother Michael Adam She is survived by her wife Gabriela (Gabby) Chapdelaine her sister Melody Bruno, foster sister Janet Scholl and sister-in-law Diane Liberty Adam, plus nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Melinda grew up in Wakefield, MA graduated from Wakefield High School, Northeastern University and MGH Institute of Health Professions.

Melinda touched thousands of lives in her work as a physical therapist. She graduated in 1983 from Northeastern University with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy. Melinda spent many years working in the top physical therapy and sports medicine clinics in the Boston area. In 1991 she completed her Master of Science in Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy. In 1993, she began her career in management, managing physical therapy programs at Addison Gilbert Hospital as well as Beverly Hospital. Melinda was instrumental in developing the departments at both hospitals into world class therapy programs. Melinda continued to excel and grow the programs and in 2014 she completed her Doctorate in Physical at MGH Institute of Health Professions. Melinda was named Director of Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine for Beth Israel Lahey Health and was instrumental as well as very proud of developing a physical therapy program at the Cape Ann YMCA in Gloucester, MA. So many lives on the North Shore have been improved because of Melinda's work not only as a talented physical therapist, but as a leader and mentor to thousands of aspiring therapists, guiding their path to healthcare.

One of Melinda's loves and pastimes aside from Cribbage was sailing. Sailing the eastern seaboard or taking part of many spring regatta's down in the BVI with Capt. Pat on the vessel Seven Sisters was her favorite pastime. She also went to the Landing School where she learned how to build boats.

Along with her unselfish devotion to family and friends, Melinda's ultimate passion was giving to the people of Gloucester community whether volunteer at The Open Door food pantry or accomplishing her dream of having physical therapy at the Cape Ann YMCA in Gloucester.

In honoring the wishes of Melinda and her family, a private memorial service will be held on October 23,2022 starting at 10 a.m. There will be a live video stream at the follow website https://linktr.ee/melindaadam
