Peabody - Maurice W. "Bill" Ahern, 95, of Peabody, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at Ledgewood Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center in Beverly surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Nancy (Upham) Ahern with whom he shared 59 years of marriage until her passing in 2012.

He was born in Lynn, MA on October 27, 1930 and was the cherished son of the late Maurice and Lena (Coleman) Ahern.

He was born in his family home in Lynn, MA and was a graduate of Lynn English High School. He got a degree from Arizona State and Boston University. He enlisted in The US Air Force and served during the Korean War. He was awarded the Korean Service, The National Defense, The United Nations, and The Good Conduct Medals. After being discharged he dedicated his life to Civil Service as a Security Specialist for the military at Hanscom Air Force Base in Bedford. He was devoted to his family and above all enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren as they grew. His boisterous laugh will be remembered by all who loved him.

Bill is survived by his 7 children, Richard Ahern and his wife Karen of Merrimac, Robert Ahern and his wife Cheryl Doucette of Woodstock, NH, Susan Marshall of Peabody, Sharon Languzzi and her husband Anthony of FL, Sandra Maitland and her husband James of NC, Nancy Ricci and her husband Robert of Peabody and Amy Sampson and her husband Elijah of Marlboro; his 14 grandchildren, Lydia, Janice, William, Bethany, Amanda, Heather, Victoria Adrianna, Ashley, Breanna, Nicholas, Shanissa, Deserae and Eliza; his 14 great-grandchildren; his 2 siblings, Victor Ahern of Sanford, ME and Lena Phillips of Stoughton; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Sadly, in addition to his wife and parents, he is predeceased by his 3 siblings, David and Michael Ahern and Peggy Meggison.

Family and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours at Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 from 4PM to 7PM. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday morning at 10AM in the funeral home chapel followed by burial at Oak Grove Cemetery in Peabody.
