Maryann Ellis Obituary

Beverly - Maryann Ellis, 83, of Beverly, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 27, 2026. Born in Peabody on May 17, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Joseph P. and Catherine (Hayes) Ellis.

Maryann was deeply invested in her community and was a familiar face in local politics for many years. She proudly served as the Administrative Assistant to the former State Representative and Mayor of Beverly, Jack Monahan.

Her life was defined by her resilience and her devotion to her family. Despite the physical challenges that followed a debilitating stroke, Maryann's mind remained as active as ever. She found peace and creativity in various arts and crafts, audio books and watching the birds visit her birdfeeder. Above all, her favorite moments were those spent visiting with her loved ones, and she took special joy in watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow.

Maryann is survived by her four children: Tracy Giles of Danvers; Stephen Giles and his wife Marjorie of Ashland; Michael Giles and his wife Peggy of Peabody and Shawn Giles and his wife Jennifer Misner of West Newbury. She was the cherished grandmother of eight and great-grandmother of three. Maryann also leaves behind her siblings, Michael Ellis and Kathie Ellis, her sister-in-law, Sharon Ellis and her faithful cat Willie.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Ellis, and her sister, Dorothy Crowthers.

Funeral services for Maryann will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Maryann's memory to the American Heart Association, a leader in stroke research, at www.heart.org. Arrangements by the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly. Information, directions, and condolences at www.campbellfuneral.com.
