Exeter, NH - Martha T. Harting, 84, died May 23, 2019, at the Exeter Hospital in Exeter, N.H. She was born May 8, 1935, in Gloucester, daughter of the late Eugene G. Lane Jr. and Katherine F. (Jelliff) Lane.

Martha grew up in the Bayview section of Gloucester. She graduated from Gloucester High School, class of 1953, and Burdett School of Business, Boston, Mass., class of 1954.

Martha's career was in legal secretarial work and she retired as an Executive Assistant from Osram Sylvania in Danvers. Also, she was formerly employed with Glovsky and Glovsky Law Office in Beverly, Carl Joslin Law Office in Beverly, and with the North Shore Visiting Nurses Association in Danvers. Martha was a Past Worthy Advisor of Rainbow Girls Assembly 41 of Gloucester. Martha and her loving husband of 61 years, Robert A. Harting Jr. were longtime residents of Beverly, for over 40 years from 1960-2002. They have resided the past 12 years in Exeter, N.H.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son Bruce G. Harting of Boca Raton, Fla.; son and daughter-in-law, Charles A. Harting and Barbara Aldrich of Danvers, Mass.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A celebration of her life is being planned and will be announced at a later date.
