Scituate - Marie Elizabeth Ouellette passed away on December 3, 2019 at the Life Care Center of the South Shore.
Marie was born on April 2nd, 1930 in Salem to Albert Ouellette and Elizabeth (Brogan) Ouellette. She was educated in Salem at St. James and graduated in 1948.
She was a life-long resident of Salem until her illness in 2017. She was very active in the St. James Parish throughout her life and participated fully in parish life. Marie was a generous person and she financially supported several children in other countries to help them grow to their full potential.
She resided at Brightview Danvers from February of 2017 until August of 2019 where she then transitioned to long term care in September of 2019 at the Life Care Center of the South Shore.
Marie was an avid traveler. She loved to visit Europe and explore the cultures of other lands. Her favorite location was Ireland where she spent time researching her family history. She lived a healthy vibrant life preferring to walk or ride her bike around Salem versus driving a car. She worked as an administrative assistant and retired from the H&H Propeller Shop in Salem.
She is survived by her brother, Paul Ouellette and his wife, Jeanette of Lynn, her nephews, John Ouellette of Danvers, Robert Ouellette of West Chester, Pa., William Ouellette of Lynn, and Mark Ouellette of Eugene , OR; her nieces Elizabeth Vautour of Scituate, Kathleen Terranova of Lynn, Debra McManus of Lynn, Gail Igou of Lynn and Patricia Gilbert of Lynn. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings Bernadette, Cecilia, Alice, Albert, Jean, Joseph and Robert, her niece Judith Seymour of Rumford, Maine, and her nephew Thomas Ouellette of Anchorage AK.

Visiting Hours will be held on Saturday December 7 at the Murphy Funeral Home located at 85 Federal Street, Salem MA from 2 PM to 6 PM. A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 9 at St. James Church, located at 160 Federal Street, Salem at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place immediately following the funeral service at St. Mary's Cemetery, located at 226 North Street, Salem. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105. Marie worked with my husband Ray at H + H for many years. During bad weather Ray would often give Marie a ride home. He thought very highly of her. I enjoyed talking with her when ever I saw her.
I am very sorry for your loss.
