Boxford - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Margaret "Peggy" Boardman, on July 2, 2020 - surrounded by her family at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, after many years of various health issues. She was the beloved wife of Edward Boardman for 51 years.

Peggy was born in Haverhill, MA, and grew up in Boxford, MA. She was the daughter of Leonard and Rose (Stevenson) Melvin. She attended Boxford Public Schools.

Friends and family were so important to Peggy. She loved hosting large gatherings, and was happiest when spending time with close friends and family during the holidays. She was known for her famous "hermit" cookies, and enjoyed being outdoors, spending time in her flower garden. Peggy had an "open door" policy, always welcoming those who were near and dear to her heart. Her quick wit and feisty personality were unmatched, and her fantastic sense of humor kept us all smiling, even in the most trying times. She had a kind heart, generous nature, and tremendous compassion for all.

For over 50 years, Peggy was a dedicated and loyal employee of Maestranzi Brothers, Beverly, MA. Most important to Peggy were her children and grandchildren. Her daughters, Michelle and Danielle, were so important to her. She was always there for them...guiding them, advising them, and helping them in times of need. She was a great mentor and role model. She shared an especially close relationship with her grandson, Matthew, and always made him know just how much she loved him. Her granddaughter, Madeline Rose Boucher, was lost at the young age of 14 months due to SUDC, (Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood). We find peace in knowing they are joined, once again, in Heaven. She will be tremendously missed by all.

Peggy is survived by her husband of 51 years, Edward Boardman, of Boxford, MA, her daughters, Michelle (Boardman) Boucher and her husband, Matthew Boucher, of Groveland, MA, Danielle Boardman, of Boxford, MA. She is also survived by her grandson, Matthew A. Boucher, Jr., of Groveland, who was the light of her life, her sister and best friend, Alanna (Melvin) Casey and her husband Dennis, of Byfield, MA, brother Chris Melvin and his wife, Kim of Ocala, FL, sister Rosemary (Melvin) Dusang Peppard and her husband, Sam of Summerfield, FL, sister Kelly (Melvin) Stidham and her significant other, Shawn Brackett of Somersworth, NH, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her infant granddaughter, Madeline, she was predeceased by her brothers; Jimmy, Johnny, Michael, and Lenny Melvin.

Due to COVID-19, there are no services. There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date, to be announced. Arrangements are by H.L. Farmer and Sons Funeral Homes, Haverhill and Bradford. It was very important to Peggy that her grandson, Matthew, be able to continue his education. As such, in lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution toward Matthew's continued education.
