Leonard J. Lavoie Obituary
Beverly - Leonard J. "Lenny" Lavoie, 78, of Beverly, husband of the late Kathleen L. (McGee) Lavoie, died peacefully on Sunday, July 13, 2026, in Rye, N.H., surrounded by friends and family after a long illness.
Leonard was born in Salem, Mass, on March 22, 1948, the son of the late Albert J. and Germaine (Perry) Lavoie. Raised in Salem, he was a proud graduate of Salem High, never letting anyone forget that on Thanksgiving. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Salem State. He and Kathy settled in Beverly, where they raised their two sons.
He spent his career in special property insurance, work that took him across the country and that he genuinely loved. He fondly remembered, decades later, the stadiums, landmarks, and unique buildings he had insured and the stories behind them.
An avid golfer, he was happiest on the course, and when spending time with his three grandchildren. He coached Little League and Babe Ruth baseball and never forgot the kids he coached, following many of their careers with pride.
He is survived by his two sons, John and Cheryl Lavoie of Newton, and Peter Lavoie of Haverhill; three grandchildren, Benjamin, Adam, and Katherine; his siblings, Claudia and Richard Perron of South Carolina, Christine and Lawrence Damigella of Billerica, Denise and Wayne Britton of Middleton, Joseph and Brenda Lavoie of Gloucester, and Michael and Patricia Lavoie of Upton; his aunt and uncle, Vivian and Peter Mandragouras of North Reading; his sister-in-law Barbara Lavoie of Hull and brother-in-law, David Brown of Methuen; his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Arthur and Kathy McGee, William and Carol McGee, John and Candice McGee, and Karen and Thomas Carter, all of Peabody, Laurie and Michael Madison of Dover, N.H., and Mary Lou and Karl Kravchuk of Groveland; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Lenny was predeceased by Kathy, his wife of 44 years; his brother, Richard J. Lavoie; and his sister, Jeanne Brown.
Visiting hours will be held at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn Street, Peabody, on Thursday, July 16, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
