Ipswich - We are saddened to share the news of the passing of Kathleen E. Sullivan (Kathy), beloved wife, mother, sister and friend. Kathy passed away peacefully on the morning of January 9th, 2026, aged 82.


Kathy was born on July 23, 1943 in Freeport, NY to parents John and Mabel Joyce, the youngest of four siblings. She attended Potsdam College where she received her Bachelors and her Masters in Education. She began her career as an elementary school teacher in Wappingers Falls, NY, and later relocated to Massachusetts when she got a position teaching English at Ipswich Middle School. She remained a teacher until her retirement at age 59.

It was at the Ipswich Middle School that Kathy met Thomas Sullivan. Kathy and Tom were married on April 17, 1973. Together, they raised their two sons and shared 52 wonderful years together.

Kathy was a musician, a singer and a dedicated Catholic. She was a devoted member of the La Salette Church community and prayer group, and an active member and occasional leader of the church choir in which she was a regular soloist with her beautiful soprano voice.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Tom Sullivan, her sons, Daniel and Matthew Sullivan, her grandchildren, Benjamin and Mary Sullivan, her sister, Rosemary Spencer, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She is preceded in death by her brothers, John and Bill Joyce. Kathy will be remembered for the strong connection she had with her family, particularly with her siblings, her kindness and her commitment to her faith.

Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Hope Parish, 1 Pineswamp Road, Ipswich, on Friday, January 23rd, at 11:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. An hour of visitation will be held prior at the Campbell Funeral Home, 6 High Street, Ipswich from 10am to 11am. Burial will be at New Highland Cemetery, Ipswich.
