Karen Keefe Luxton Obituary

Seabrook - Seabrook - Karen Keefe Luxton daughter of the late Francis N. Keefe and June Jorgensen Keefe died suddenly on August 14, 2025 after a short illness. She had a long and varied career at Massachusetts Institute of Technology where she enjoyed her life in an academic community filled with exciting discoveries and highly dedicated researchers in the field of energy and sustainability. Karen was, by her own admission, a lousy housekeeper, but an avid gardener and crafter, a staunch supporter of the Seabrook Public Library, and an active participant at St. James Episcopal Church in Groveland, MA, where she found much joy in her church family.

She is survived by beloved husband Thomas S Luxton of Seabrook, NH; her devoted son Thomas K. Luxton and his partner Julie Luskin of Hampton, NH, all of whom filled her life with love; sisters Anne Keefe and her husband David Wiltse of Weston, CT; and Suzy Keefe Allen and her husband Samuel of Dover, NH. She also leaves her second and very dear second family Donald Luxton and his partner Linda Truesdale of Wenham, MA; Shirley and Richard Flynn of Hopedale, MA; and many favorite nieces and nephews.

There are no visiting hours. A service and committal will be held on September 7 at 11 a.m. at St. James Episcopal Church,119 Washington St., Groveland, MA, with collation to follow in the church hall. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to Seabrook Public Library or St. James Episcopal Church in Groveland. An online guestbook is available at www.DirectCremationSeacoast.com.
