Ipswich - Joyce Ann Cochran passed away on September 6, 2023 at Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers after a brief illness. Joyce was born in Hartford, CT to Wesley Clark Carroll and Margaret Irene McAfee. She grew up in E. Hartford and attended Boston University where she received a bachelor's degree in Early Education. Joyce taught elementary school back in her home state of Connecticut where she was introduced to Henry "Hank" Cochran. They were married in Connecticut, and throughout their long marriage, his work with the national Meteorological Society would take them to Hawaii, Wake Island, Kansas, and to many New England towns. Ipswich, Massachusetts is where they would ultimately land. Joyce raised her three children throughout all these travels, and when they were grown, she worked as a home health aid.
Joyce had an insatiable appetite for the Word of God and the people of God. If there was a worship service, seminar, workshop, retreat, or Christian event of any kind within a 20-mile radius, Joyce was sure to be there. She was passionate about sharing her faith in Jesus with anyone who would listen, and she was committed to praying for anyone who had a request. She was dearly loved by her church family at FPC North Shore in Ipswich where she was a member for the last fifteen years of her life.
Joyce was predeceased by her husband, Hank, and daughter, Joy Aliss (Bill), and is survived by her son, Blair Wesley (Christine), daughter, Megan Idela, grandson, Wesley, and son-in-law, Bill Shamlian.
