Joseph J. Pyburn Obituary

Danvers - Joseph J. "Joe" Pyburn, 74, died at home surrounded by his family on January 13th, 2025 following a tough battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Roberta A. (Beaulieu) Pyburn, with whom he shared fifty three years of marriage.

Born in Lynn on April 19, 1950, Joe was the son of the late Joseph and Phyllis (Gambale) Pyburn and brother of the late Michael Pyburn. He was raised and educated in Beverly and Danvers and was a graduate of Danvers High School, Class of 1968 and Northeastern University. For the last 30 years Joe was employed at GTG Precision Machining in Middleton and had previously worked for many years as a draftsman at General Electric and on occasion as a karate instructor and bartender.

An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed bicycling, karate, skiing, hiking, fishing, canoeing and he had a deep love for the ocean, spending the past several years kayaking and surfing there a few times a week.

Joe was a fantastic father to his three children - Joanne, Joseph and Sean, and his wife Mary, and a loving and generous "papa" to his three grandchildren, Leanne, Travis and Hunter.

We will miss his sense of humor and sarcasm, his generosity, his strength and loyalty, his tall tales, and the love he shared with us all.

While his adventures in this world have ended too soon, we know his spirit will be surfing through the cosmos and continuing to adventure in peace.

Instead of flowers or a formal service, Joe would have wanted you to remember him the next time you are outdoors - whether hiking, skiing or enjoying any activity - and to fully embrace the joy and happiness in those moments.
