John E. O'Donnell Obituary
Peabody - John E. "Judd" O'Donnell, 76, of Peabody, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Salem Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Kathleen (Connolly) O'Donnell with whom he shared 48 years of marriage.
John was born on July 2, 1949, in Lynn, MA and was the son of the late George and Helen (Cantwell) O'Donnell. John grew up in Lynn and graduated from St. Mary's High School. He continued his education at Northeastern University and received a B.A. degree in business administration with a concentration in manufacturing.
John began working at Edel-Brown, a subcontractor specializing in manufacturing defense systems. He was well-liked and respected by his co-workers and was known for his strong work ethic and his upbeat, positive attitude. Once the company was closed, his skillset was useful in the semiconductor manufacturing industry, and he became a sales manager and operations supervisor for several smaller companies.
A true outdoorsman, John loved being outside, whether it be duck hunting, deer hunting, fishing, or trap shooting. He made many friends who shared similar interests and would often take day trips to engage in these outdoor activities. As a lifelong avid sportsman, he was an active member of The Eastern Rifle Club, the Danvers Fish and Game Club, and the Minute Man Sportsman Club in Burlington. John also traveled from Bermuda and Paris, and also to New York City, Santa Fe, NM, Minnesota, and the Badlands of S. Dakota. He enjoyed large gatherings of people and was an engaging storyteller. He was a great history buff and enjoyed reading and researching American and European history.
John had a strong faith and was very proud of his Irish heritage. He will be remembered for his sharp wit, his booming voice, and his unique ability to put people at ease and make them smile. He always had a story or a joke to tell. His memory will live on in the hearts and minds of all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his wife Kathy, John is survived by his son Liam O'Donnell and his significant other Nicole Belliveau of North Reading; his daughter Caitlin O'Donnell and her husband Ayham Al Muarrawi of Stoneham; his sister Elizabeth O'Donnell-Fogarty and her husband Dennis Fogarty of Marblehead; his sister-in-law Nancy Boal and her husband Gary of Santa Fe, NM; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visiting hours will be held at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn Street, Peabody, on Thursday, March 5, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
