Ipswich - John L. 'Jack' Meers, 93, died peacefully on February 3, 2023, to be with Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior. He was the loving husband for sixty-five years of Jacquelyn (Edington) Meers

Jack was born on August 29, 1929, in St. Louis, Missouri, where he lived for forty-two years, the eldest son of Emil and Edna (Bekebrede) Meers. He attended Normandy High School and was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force, having served from 1952 to 1955. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business from Washington University St. Louis. From 1962 through 1972 he worked for Monsanto Headquarters in St. Louis, relocated with his family to Ipswich following a transfer to the firm's Everett, Massachusetts plant, and retired in 1984.

He was baptized, confirmed, and an active member for many years in the Lutheran church. His faith in Jesus Christ was an important and enduring source of support and comfort throughout his life.

Jack was an avid gardener, loved baseball (a faithful Cardinals fan), history, genealogy, travel, music, and especially spending time with family and friends. As an accomplished accordion player, he entertained many at gatherings and instilled in his family a love of music that has extended through generations. He enjoyed celebrating his heritage, playing German music and attending festivals across the country and in Germany.

In addition to his wife "Jackie" he is survived by his beloved two sons, John Meers and his wife Jill of Enfield, CT, Joel Meers and his wife Christine of Fredericksburg, VA; two daughters, Julia Meers of Ipswich, Jennifer Meers and her husband Scott Lees of Freedom, NH; seven grandchildren, Andrew and his wife Rachel, Emma, Alyssa, Claire and her husband Christiaan, Tyler, Kathryn, Rebecca; a sister-in-law, Mary; many nephews; nieces; cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his two brothers, Jim and Jerry, and a sister-in-law, Bonnie.

A private burial with Military Honors will be held in the Cowles Memorial Cemetery, Ipswich at a later date. A 'Celebration of His Life' will be held for his family and friends at noon on Saturday, March 25, at the Bradford Tavern, 87 Haverhill Street (Rt. 133), Rowley.
