Beverly - John E. Haibon Sr., of Beverly, the cherished husband of Alicia (Lojko) for 71 years, passed away rather suddenly surrounded by Family after receiving Catholic Last Rites on Friday, November 8, 2019, at Beverly Hospital after a short stay.

John was born in Salem, Mass., on September 18, 1927, the eldest of seven children of the late Edward M. and Stella (Grocki) Haibon. He was educated in the Salem and Beverly school systems. After completing his education. John enlisted in the U.S. Navy toward the end of WWII and proudly served his country for 20 years around the globe including in the Korean War. Hooyah. Upon his Honorable Discharge from his Navy service John worked for United Shoe Machine Corporation utilizing his numerous Navy skills and experience. John had the unique ability and skill-set to build or repair multiple USM Corp. production machinery. This skill he carried to his private life, and was always available to assist family and friends.

John's number one interest and love was his family. In retirement he spent endless time with his children and their families, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was truly the patriarch. He will always be remembered and respected for his humor, quick wit and caring for his family and friends, especially for his "crew" at Stephy's Kitchen where he and Alicia had breakfast daily.

In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his eldest son, John E. "Skip" Jr.; his brother Thomas; and his sister Helen. John is lovingly survived by his wife Alicia; his son David, and his wife Johanna of Danvers; his daughters, Sally Pietrini, and her husband Jack of Beverly; Beth Carrigan, and her husband Charlie, of S. Hamilton; brothers, Frederick, and his late wife Lorraine of R.I., Edward, and his wife Carol of Maine; sisters, Eleanor Marshall of Danvers and her late husband Tom, Pauline Chludzenski of Beverly, and her late husband Ray; grandchildren, Lisa Sabino and her husband Mike, Eric Haibon, and his wife Kara, Kira Adams and her husband Billy, Trevor Haibon, Kristen Clark, and husband Justin, Jani Wilichoski, and her husband Brian, Matt Haibon and his partner Danya Ingenhuett, Kevin Pietrini, Katie Pietrini; great-grandchildren, Michaela Sabino and her fiancé Vaughn Austin, Courtney Sabino, Rebecca Sabino, Michael Sabino, Erica Haibon, Samantha Haibon, Justin Adams, Joey Adams, Olivia Adams. Ashley Clark, Bryson Clark, Emma Wilichoski, Blake Wilichoski; great-great grandchild, Juliana Austin.
A funeral Mass will be held Saturday, November 16, 2019, at 11 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 111 New Balch St., Beverly. A visitation will be held at the Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot St., Beverly, on Friday, November 15, 2019, from 4 to 7 p.m. Information, directions, condolences at www.campbellfuneral.com.
