John Dassuk Jr. Obituary

Peabody - John Dassuk Jr., 86, a lifelong resident of Peabody, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Elaine (Dowdell) Dassuk with whom he shared 65 years of marriage.

He was born in Lynn on April 6, 1939, and was the cherished son of the late John and Anna (Waskowski) Dassuk.

John was a devoted family man and a hard worker. He enjoyed reminiscing on the odd jobs he worked as a youth. Most notable being his time as a caddy at Salem Country Club which developed his love for the game of golf. A member of Peabody High School's Class of 1957, John went on to graduate from Lincoln College (A.S. 1965), and Northeastern University (B.S. 1969).

John had a lengthy and successful tenure with the Raytheon Company, working as a Project Engineer until his retirement in June 2011 after more than 46 years of service. John enjoyed telling stories about his work trips in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, always bringing gifts home as mementoes – sharing lifelong memories of the places and people he met.

In retirement, John continued to enjoy traveling with family and friends, grilling at the pool, golfing, swimming, and following local sports teams, especially the New England Patriots. A lifelong learner, John loved keeping up to date with politics and the stock market.

In addition to his wife, Elaine, John is survived by his daughter, Pamela Barbuzzi and her husband Anthony of Swampscott; his son John Dassuk and his wife Media of Peabody; his three grandchildren, Erica Ryan and her husband Eric, Nicholas Barbuzzi and his wife Alexandra, and Lauren Barbuzzi; his niece, Darlene Pingree and her husband Chris.

In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his brother, George Dassuk; and his nephew, George Dassuk.
