Joanne M. Trotta Obituary
Peabody - Joanne Margaret (Pelletier) Trotta of Peabody passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on May 2, 2026.
Joanne was born on March 11, 1952, in Chelsea to Elaine and Alfred Pelletier. She grew up in Fitchburg and graduated from Fitchburg State College with a degree in mathematics, where she was a member of the first all-female track team, helping pave the way for expanded opportunities for women in athletics following Title IX. In her younger years, she was named as Miss Fitchburg and received the key to the city. She later earned her MBA. In 1981, she and her husband, Thomas, settled in Peabody where they built a home filled with decades of memories.
She devoted much of her life to education as a deeply loved and respected math teacher at Pelham High School in Pelham, NH, Peabody Veterans Memorial High School in Peabody, and Concord-Carlisle Regional High School in Concord, where she retired in 2015. She also taught at several vocational and Catholic schools, including Northeast Metropolitan Regional Vocational High School in Wakefield and Monty Tech Vocational School in Fitchburg.
Joanne built her life around her family, raising four children with unwavering devotion and unconditional support. She was active in the Peabody community as PTA president at her children's elementary school, class advisor at Peabody High School, and through sewing and service at her local Catholic church.
She ran a sewing school for many years and found joy in knitting for loved ones. She had an adventurous spirit and created lasting memories with her family through camping trips, road trips, and summers on Martha's Vineyard. In 1994, she and her husband, Thomas, moved their family to Seoul, South Korea for a year, forming many lifelong friendships. Joanne was also an avid cyclist who led youth groups through the hills of New England.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Thomas; her children, Kristin Trotta, Shaina Tenentes, Jocelyn Siegmann, and Jacob Trotta, and their spouses and partners, Anthony, Greg, Peter, and Jessica; her grandchildren, Alexander, Amelia, and Elizabeth, with a fourth grandchild on the way; her beloved dog, Sadie; her siblings, Jim, Rosanne, Laurie, and Jeffrey; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Elaine (Reynolds) Pelletier and Alfred Pelletier.
Visiting hours will be held at the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody on Sunday, May 10, 2026 from 3:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. followed by a funeral Mass at Saint Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 112 Chestnut St., Lynnfield on Monday, May 11th at 10:30a.m.
