Janet Henderson Obituary

Ipswich - Janet Henderson, formerly of Ipswich, Boxford, and Georgetown, passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family on January 11, at the age of 88.

She is survived by her son, Scott A. Henderson and his wife, Susan E. Henderson, of Haverhill; her daughters, Sheryl A. Henderson and her partner, Anthony J. Reppucci, of Ipswich; Sandra J. Henderson-Marsh and her husband, George E. Marsh Jr., of Essex; and Stacey E. Ryan and her husband, William J. Ryan Jr., of Portland, Maine. She also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Fran Donovan Dobbins, and her husband, Tom Dobbins, of Scarborough, Maine.

Janet was predeceased by her devoted husband of 63 years, Allen M. Henderson; her parents, Doris Donovan and Francis "Hunk" Donovan; and her brother, Dave Desjardins.

A gifted athlete, Janet competed at Georgetown High School and was inducted into the school's Hall of Fame for basketball. An accomplished golfer, she proudly recorded two holes-in-one as a member of the Wenham Golf Club. Janet dedicated many years to teaching special education students at Masconomet Regional Junior High School.

Janet cherished time spent with her family, especially during school vacations skiing in the mountains of NH, ME and VT. She generously gave back to her community, including volunteering with the Boxford Council on Aging. Known for her competitive spirit, she loved playing Bridge, Scrabble, and Rummikub, and was a devoted Boston Celtics fan. An avid reader and talented knitter, she took great joy in creating items for her family. Janet will be deeply missed for her wisdom, kindness, and unwavering love for her family.
