Janet M Andrews Obituary

Haverhill - Janet Marie Andrews, 71, a cherished mother, nana, great‑grandmother, and devoted fiancée, passed away on January 23, 2026.

Born on August 12, 1954, in Salem, Janet possessed an extraordinary gift for guidance, compassion, and making others feel deeply cared for. Her warmth touched the lives of her family, friends, and the many people who lovingly came to know her as "mom."

For more than 30 years, Janet worked as a water operator with Games People Play, traveling throughout New England and Hampton Beach. Everywhere she went, she built community, created connection, and made people feel like family. Janet was known for her strong opinions, unwavering loyalty, and the fierce love she gave so freely. Her humor was quick, her presence comforting, and her laugh—joyfully contagious. She was not only the matriarch of her family but also a best friend to her children, supporting them wholeheartedly in every path they chose.

Janet was also known for her incredible cooking and her love of bingo, often gathering with friends and family for games filled with laughter and friendly competition. She enjoyed board games of all kinds and could always be found helping someone in need within the wide circle of loved ones she built over the decades. To many, she was a guardian angel long before she earned the title.

Janet is survived by her children, Sabrina Tavares, Crystal Tavares, Angel Hally, and Marc Hally; her grandchildren, Stephanie and Paul Hatch, Cassandra Acin, Caden and Lucia McGill; and her great‑grandchildren, Jordan and Ari Tavares, Adryan, Apollo, Niklaus and Nathanial Hileman, all of whom brought her endless pride and joy. She is also survived by her fiance Robert Macdonald, her sister Nancy Reyes and her husband, Hector, her brothers Donald Andrews, and his wife Liz, Harold (Butchy) Andrews and his wife Sue. She was predeceased by her brother David Andrews and her sisters Ruthy (Sygowski) Wilson, Marilynn Collins and Harriot Eaton.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in support of creating a lasting monument at The Salem Willows, coordinated through her son, Marc.

A service will be held at The First Baptist Church on Lafayette Street on February 13, 2026, followed by a celebration of Janet's life on March 22nd, 2026 at the Salem Waterfront Hotel. The celebration will include "memory exchanges," offering attendees the opportunity to share stories and moments that honor Janet's legacy.
