Peabody - Jane Louise Akre, 93, of Peabody, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, November 9, 2025, surrounded by her loving husband and children.

Born in Salem to Mary and Harold Arnold, Jane graduated from Salem High School and began her career as a telephone operator for New England Telephone and Telegraph. She later worked at Lechmere for over a decade before retiring. She was married to the love of her life, George Akre, Jr., for 71 years. Together, they raised five children and built a lifetime of love and memories.

Jane was a talented knitter and seamstress who lovingly crafted blankets, baby hats, and clothing for her family and others in need. She cherished time with "The Club," a close group of friends who met monthly for more than 50 years to chat, knit, and share tea and dessert. She also volunteered for many years at the Peabody Senior Center.

She is survived by her beloved husband, George Akre, Jr.; her children Cheryl Akre Teal and her husband Tom, Sandra Withers, George Akre III, and Sharon Druhan and her significant other John; her grandchildren Ashley, Nicole, Amanda, Lincoln, Matthew, Jessica, and Hayden; and her great-grandchildren Madison, Caleb, Emma, Charlotte, Callum, and Lucy. She is predeceased by her beloved son, Kevin Akre, her great-grandson Declan Finnerty, and her son-in-law, Steven Druhan.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jane's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Services will be private for immediate family.
