Revere - James R. DePhilippo, of Revere, formerly of Lynn, beloved husband of 54 years of the late Mary G. (Davis) DePhilippo, passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness May 20, at the Brudnick Center for Living. Born in Roslindale, the son of the late Rocco and Amelia (Zarella) DePhilippo. Jim served his country in Korea during the Korean War with the United States Army. Jim was a reader and communicant of St. Pius V Church, Lynn, and was also a member of the Forever Young Chorus at the Peabody Senior Center and sang at many polka dances held at St. Michael’s Hall. He was past commander many times for the P.L.A.V. Post 56, a former member of the Winthrop Elks, and Saugus VFW. Jim proudly served as Master of Ceremonies for the city of Lynn Memorial Day and Veterans Day events over the years. Jim was Vice President of the New England Region Claims Division for the Continental Insurance Co. that spanned 35 successful years prior to retirement.
James is survived by his life partner Ella Conti of Revere; his children, James R. DePhilippo Jr. and his husband Rick Bolinski of Pa., Michael J. DePhilippo and his wife Andrea of Peabody, Susan M. Cook and her husband Robert of Beverly, Margaret M. Muise and her husband Gary of Peabody; his grandchildren Jaclyn Monaco and her husband Dennis of N.Y., Stacey Cook and her husband Max Wigglesworth of Fla., Eric Muise, Rachael Muise both of Peabody; and great-grandchild Jack Monaco of N.Y., and several nieces and nephews. Jim was the brother of the late Michael Difilippo, Mary Prue, and Jeanette Bernardo.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral from the Nadworny Funeral Home, 798 Western Ave., Lynn, Friday, May 25, at 10 a.m., followed by his Mass of Christian Burial in St. Pius V. Church at 11 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lynn. Visiting hours, Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. All Veteran Organizations are invited to attend prayer services Thursday at 6 p.m. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Lynn English NCJROTC Fund, 50 Goodridge St., Lynn, MA 01902.
