Peabody - Irene K. Giardinella, age 73, of Peabody, died Saturday June 4th at her home after a lengthy illness. She was the longtime companion of Thomas R. Scanlon, and wife of the late Raymond J. Giardinella.
Born in Fitchburg she attended schools in Fitchburg. Irene was employed as a manager at Tony Lena's Sub Shops and managed both the Franklin Street Store, and the Tony Lenas in Wyoma Square.
In addition to Thomas she is survived by three sons, David Sasseville of Maine, Richard Sasseville of Lynn, Mark Giardinella of Salem; three grandchildren Melinda J. Conlon, Jonathan and Cain Sasseville, one great-granddaughter Lillianna R. Rodriguez, and many nieces and nephews. She was also mother of the late Steven P. Sasseville.
