Peabody - Iola E. Penno, 85, passed away December 17, 2020, at the Cedar Healthcare in Portsmouth, N.H.
She was born May 20, 1935, in Peabody, Mass., daughter of the late Frank Rushde and Iola (Perkins) Rushde.
Iola grew up and lived the majority of her life in Peabody, Mass. She was one of four children in her family. Iola's first marriage of 23 years was to Charles Pelletier, and they shared one daughter together. Iola worked as a bookkeeper for several years with Hub Pools and later was employed by St. Jean's Credit Union in Newburyport, Mass., as a teller. Charles and Iola's marriage sadly ended in divorce, but then Iola met the love of her life, Robert Penno. After dating for two years, they married in 1985. They moved to Epping, N.H., in 1999. Iola enjoyed playing bingo, doing crossword puzzles, and vacationing in Las Vegas, Nev. She was very fond of animals especially cats.
Iola was predeceased by Robert in 2009, and her three siblings, Francis Rushde, Ali Rushde, and Carol Rushde-LeBlanc.
She is survived by her daughter, Iola Foreman of Rochester, N.H.; four grandchildren, Jason Foreman of Manchester, N.H., Samantha Foreman of Rochester, N.H., Thomas Foreman and his girlfriend, Celina Micale of Newmarket, N.H., Zack Kendall and his girlfriend Jade Kenyon of New Durham, N.H.; one great-grandchild, Julian Kendall; and several nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held for the family.
Interment will be in the N.H. State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, N.H.
