Naples - Naples - Helene (Hickey) Skerry age 81 died after a prolonged and courageous battle with cancer. She was the daughter of Richard E. Hickey and Kathryn (Travers) Hickey of Peabody, Massachusetts and Port Charlotte, Florida. Helene was predeceased by her partner Donald Signer. Helene was born in Everett, Massachusetts and lived in Peabody, Massachusetts. As a child she summered in Green Harbour (Marshfield, Massachusetts), later in life she summered in Otisfield, Maine and moved to Naples, Florida upon her retirement. She was a graduate of Mount Saint Joseph Academy in Brighton, Massachusetts. Helene did her undergraduate, graduate and post graduate studies at Salem State University in Salem, Massachusetts. Her career as an educator in Peabody, Massachusetts spanned 37 years. She began as a classroom teacher and school reading specialist at the John E. Burke School, she went on to be Assistant Principal at the South Memorial School and later was Principal of the Center School. She also worked as an administrator for the Massachusetts Migrant Program for 10 years. Helene excelled at sports and was an avid skier, tennis player, and golfer, she was an award-winning photographer. She traveled extensively with friends and family both across the United States and much of Europe. She loved adventure. She is survived by her sister Madilyn Caggiano of Massachusetts, Lorayne Boudreau and brother-in-law J. Mark Boudreau of New Hampshire; her nephew Mark V. Boudreau and his wife Carol and their daughters Catherine and Laura, (Al) Boudreau of New Hampshire, and her nephew Paul Boudreau and his wife Angela and their daughters Sarah and Lindsay of Massachusetts. Special thanks to her caring friends at Glenn Eagle Country Club whose kindness and love helped make her journey easier. At the request of the family, funeral arrangements will be private.
