Lynnfield - Hazel H. Croxon, of Lynnfield died peacefully Friday, August 26 at Alliance Health at Rosewood in Peabody. She was 83 years old.
Born in Edmonton, London UK, she was the daughter of the late William and Winifred (Whiting) Hurst.
Hazel graduated high school in 1955 and went on to graduate from Hornsey Arts College of London in 1957, emigrating with her young family to the USA in 1967. She was a talented dressmaker and designer. Hazel enjoyed many artistic and creative pursuits including interior design, painting, knitting and quilt-making and was an avid gardener and landscape designer. She had an eye for detail, color, and style. Hazel's most important role was that of wife, mother and Nana where she led by example, taught kindness, integrity and compassion. She will be greatly missed.
Hazel was the beloved wife of Brian Croxon, with whom she shared 63 years of marriage. She was the loving mother of Deborah Croxon-Trammell of Salem and Nigel Croxon and wife Beth of Bristol, NH. She was the sister of Keith Hurst of Australia, Christina Williams of the United Kingdom, and the late Kenneth Hurst, Beryl Hurst and Audrey Smith also of the United Kingdom. Hazel is also survived by her four granddaughters, Lindsay Trammell of Lynnfield, Rachael Trammell and Anna Clare Trammell of Salem, and Molly Croxon of Bristol, NH.
The funeral service will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 127 Summer St., Lynnfield on Saturday September 10, at 11 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield, Friday September 9, from 4 to 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her honor to the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration.
