Gregory A. Leavitt Obituary

Danvers - Greg Leavitt, 70, of Danvers, passed away suddenly at his home in Danvers this October.

He was born in Somerville and educated in Hamilton, the son of the late Eleanor (Collins) and Philip Leavitt. He graduated from Hamilton -Wenham Regional HS, Class of 1966, attended Northeastern University and graduated from Merrimack College. Greg will be greatly missed by his son, Matthew Salucco-Leavitt of Brighton, his sister Gail DeCelle of Haverhill, Alex Salucco, Lorraine Salucco both of Beverly, nieces, Kimberly Onett and Heather Azzarito of Haverhill, several cousins, great-nieces and nephews; along with his former wife, Diane L Kish, who was his lifelong best friend. Greg spent most of his life working in and enjoying the restaurant industry. His many friends and colleagues will miss his sense of humor and work ethic. He worked for several years in Real Estate but continued to fuel his passion for the restaurant industry which was sparked when he started as a busboy at Anthony’s Pier 1 while in college. Greg was an experienced Restauranteur in every aspect of the word. He was at home behind the bar, or interacting with customers at so many of the local restaurants on the North Shore and in particular Romies, Café Escadrille, Hunter’s Inn, the Hilltop steakhouse, and Lewis’ Restaurant. Eventually he invested in Jack Rabbit Flats and opened his own charming restaurant, Myopia Café in Hamilton. He was well loved and respected in his field. Greg never completely retired; he continued to work part time at the "99" in Salem, right up to the last day of his life. Greg was an avid reader, enjoyed a variety of sports, and would never pass up game of golf or racquetball. Greg was devoted to spending time with his son going to the movies and cheering for all the Boston sports teams. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Assisting the family with arrangements is the Nadworny Funeral Home 798 Western Ave. Lynn, MA 01905. For guest book please visit www.nadwornyfuneralhome.com.
