Ipswich - George N. Kyriakopoulos, 88, husband of Eleanor (Lampropoulos) Kyriakopoulos,died Sunday afternoon January 11, 2026 in the Care One at Essex Park in Beverly after a long illness with dementia. Born in Megalopolis, Greece on July 3, 1937 he was the son of the late Nikolaos and Kostantina (Galani) Kyriakopoulos.
Mr. Kyriakopoulos was raised in Greece, he served in the Greek Army. He was a cook in the Greek Army. In 1965 he moved to Ipswich and later would marry his wife Eleanor Lampropoulos. George and Eleanor were long time members of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church in Ipswich. Mr. Kyriakopoulos ran his own carpentry business for several years. Later he was employed as a cabinet maker at Valiant Industries of Amesbury for 25 years. He loved going to the beach, fishing and he loved his cat Trixie. Mr. Kyriakopoulos loved going to Greek festivals. He enjoyed cooking and he made the best Spanakopita pie. He was predeceased by his son Nick on October 11, 2015.
Mr. Kyriakopoulos is survived by, in addition to his wife Eleanor, his daughter Connie Kyriakopoulos of Salem. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews in Greece. Mr. Kyriakopoulos was also predeceased by his brother Peter Kyriakopoulou of Greece and his sister Fatini also of Greece.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday January 20th. at 11:00 A.M. at the Assumption of the Greek Orthodox Church 8 Lafayette Road, Ipswich. Burial will follow in the New Highland Cemetery 29 Town Farm Road, Ipswich. Visiting hours will be Monday January 19th. from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. in the Morris Funeral Home 45 North Main Street, Ipswich, relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
