Peabody - Fred G. Brienza, 72, of Peabody, passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 17, at Lahey Clinic, Burlington.
He was born in Lynn, June 18, 1950, son of the late Fiorino and Dorothy G. (Hocter) Brienza. Fred grew up in Peabody, moving with his parents to Haverhill in 1984.
Fred was a member of the Boy Scouts of America Troop 38. He volunteered for the DAV at the Bedford VA and was a member of the Sons of the American Legion and the Korean War Veterans Associates. A longtime soldier at the Haverhill Salvation Army, Fred relocated back to Peabody in 2005 and, while there, became active at the Salvation Army retail store in Saugus. Fred volunteered and participated in many events at the Peabody Council on Aging, enjoying his time with friends there. He had an avid love for Native American life and had great respect for our Military and members of the Police and Fire Department.
His survivors include a sister, Kathie St.Pierre and her husband David of Peabody with whom he lived with, two brothers, Timothy Brienza and his wife Ramona of Saco, ME, Guy Brienza and his wife Dolly of Sanford, ME, as well as several nieces, nephews and many great friends who loved him dearly.
Funeral services will be private. Arrangements are by the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Haverhill – Bradford. In lieu of flowers contributions in his memory may be made to the Peabody Council on Aging, 79 Central St., Peabody, MA, 01960, or, Korean War Veterans Chapter 288, c/o Russell V.J. Chaput, 56 Brandy Brow Rd., Haverhill, MA 01830.
